A cross platform 2D mobile game. Fruit Bandit has five different levels – Orange-Mango, Mango, Pineapple, Orange and Lemon and features power-ups such as Freeze, Fly net, and Bonus Score etc.

Project Background

This is our first project as a digital for marketing a product required by Ogilvy & Mather Bangladesh for one of their client. The game was designed in the concern of fruit drinking powder 5 different taste. This was a challenging project for both of us Redworks (developer part of Ogilvy & Mather Bangladesh) due to as a first title development and short development period that is 4 weeks.

Game Art

We chose 2D art for avoiding huge shader development in 3D. 4 Artists developed concept art, 2D sprites generated from 3D animation render, environment art and UI contents. Artists of Redworks gives a hand for directing the art.

Programming

We chose a Unity3D for its cross platform feature , where we have good strength, few necessary plugin we had developed. Fruit Bandit was developed in Object Oriented approach. It has it's own animation state machine and physics modules...which are are specially developed for performance and efficiency in android mobile devices. Game engine of this game which includes Level editor UI, Scene graph, game play system, physics and animation state machine. Used GPU and pixel shader to render 2d image.. No projective transformation was used for performance reason. Object Oriented approach used for scene management... tried to figure out object responsibility and space... distributed responsibility based on there space and scope... let them handle on there responsibility. That way establish to give them some personality and reduce conditional branching on behalf of objects... .

Game Story and Features

One day, the twin brothers Tonty & Monty went exploring in a jungle near their home. Suddenly a band of apes known as Fruit Bandits attacked them and took away Monty. Now Tonty must rescue his brother and all he has is his slingshot.

  • The main objective of the game is to rescue Monty from the Fruit Bandits.
  • This game is designed in five different levels – Orange-Mango, Mango, Pineapple, Orange and Lemon and features power-ups such as Freeze, Fly net, and Bonus Score etc.

Overall, this game with its stunning graphics and engaging gameplay is perfect for kids and kids within us.
